GRATZ, Pa. — A landmark drive-in theater in northeastern Dauphin County is looking for new management.

The current leadership of the Sky-Vu Drive-In Theater in Gratz decided not to renew its lease to run the 76-year-old family friendly entertainment venue this year, the theater said on its Facebook page.

"(We) have made the very difficult decision not to renew our lease to continue operating the drive-in," said Tim Neal, whose family had run the theater for the last eight years. "The owners are actively looking to give someone the opportunity to lease the Sky-Vu."

Neal said the decision not to renew was made "due to changes in the industry over the last few years and what is best for our family right now."

The Sky-Vu is located on Route 25 just east of Gratz, a small borough at the northeast corner of Dauphin County, just a few miles from the borders of both Northumberland and Schuylkill counties. According to its website, the Sky-Vu is one of just 338 drive-in movie theaters still operating in the United States. It is open weekends from April to November, rain or shine, and offers a full concession menu. Sky-Vu specializes in family friendly films.

In a subsequent post on Facebook, the Sky-Vu confirmed it is looking for someone to run the venue this season.

The ideal candidate would have working knowledge of how to operate a digital projector and how to run concessions.

Interested candidates are encouraged to email Gina.T.DiSanto@gmail.com.
