LANCASTER, Pa. — Police have charged three men from Philadelphia with conspiring to steal more than $4,500 worth of merchandise from a Lancaster County sporting goods store last fall.

Richard Saunders, 33, Brian Hughes, 33, and Timothy Abner, 37, are all charged with retail theft and criminal conspiracy in connection to the alleged incident, which occurred on October 31, 2023, at a Dick's Sporting Goods Store in the Belmont Shopping Center on Fruitville Pike, according to Manheim Township Police.

Authorities say the suspects stole $4,572.99 worth of Nike and North Face brand merchandise from the store, left without paying and fled in a red sedan.

Police were able to identify the suspects after they were arrested for retail theft in Pocono Township last November. The arrest photos matched still photos taken from surveillance footage of the alleged incident in Lancaster, according to police.

Authorities found that Hughes was in custody in Montgomery County and arraigned him on the charges in a video conference, police said.

The other two suspects remain at large. Anyone with information on their location is asked to contact Manheim Township Police at (717) 569-6401 or submit a tip online.
