Crews investigating arson after five separate fires set in Harrisburg

One person was taken to the hospital as a result of the fires.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A woman escaped flames after crews were called to five back-to-back fires in Harrisburg. Now, investigators believe the fires were intentionally set.

On August 19 just after midnight, Harrisburg Police and Harrisburg Fire responded to the fires that were reported on Mulberry, Market Evergreen, Zarker, and 13th in the Allison Hill area of the city.

The buildings that were damaged were abandoned or vacant.

But, a friend of the woman who escaped the fire told FOX43 she was sleeping inside one of the structures when the flames started and made her way out safely through a window.

Authorities say that the fires are currently being investigated as acts of arson.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 717-558-6900.
