State Police capture suspects on the run in York County

Troopers were searching for two men who allegedly ran from a stolen car around 2:45 a.m. in New Freedom Borough, York County.

NEW FREEDOM, Pa. — Update, 5/4: Police have identified two male suspects and released more details in connection to the stolen car search in New Freedom in the early morning hours of May 2. 

According to a press release by Pennsylvania State Police, Southern York County Regional Police Department received a call about a suspicious person "pulling on vehicle door handles" around 2:45 a.m. this past Thursday, May 2. 

When officers approached a suspicious vehicle on the scene, it attempted to flee, but crashed into a curb and the driver and passenger got out and ran away. The vehicle was determined to be stolen, according to police. 

Another officer spotted a male in a facemask in another vehicle who did not listen to the officer's order to exit the vehicle. He fled the scene in the car but eventually left the car and continued on foot. Police also determined that car to be stolen. 

According to the press release, the Southern Regional Police officer drew and fired his weapon during the incident but no injuries were sustained by anyone. 

An area search began shortly after and officers from the York County Sheriff's Office, PSP Troop J and Southern York Regional took two males into custody as suspects.

19 year-olds Christian Wright of Pasadena, MD and marquis Brown of Stoney Beach, MD have been charged with Receiving Stolen property, evading arrest or detention on foot, and loitering and prowling at Night Time.  

PSP Troop J Major Case Team is still investigating and searching for "multiple" other suspects in connection to the incident.

Troopers and officers from the Southern Regional Police Department were looking for two men who allegedly ran from a stolen car around 2:45 a.m. on May 2 in New Freedom Borough.

State Police announced around 7 a.m. the same day that two men were in custody.

The search was in the area of East Main Street and North Constitution Avenue. Both a canine and a drone assisted with the search.

Officials said both suspects were wearing dark clothing.
