LOWER PAXTON TOWNSHIP, DAUPHIN COUNTY-Police in Dauphin County issued a warning Thursday after an elderly woman lost thousands of dollars after falling victim to a Publishers Clearing House scam.
Investigators said an 80-year-old Lower Paxton Township resident received a call from someone who told her that she had won a big Publishers Clearing House prize. The caller told the woman she needed wire a large amount of money to different locations in order to claim her winnings.
The victim lost more than $15,000 after emptying her savings and life insurance policy. Police said the money is irretrievable.
