3rd man arrested in connection to Harrisburg stabbing

Justin Smith, 31, of Harrisburg, was arrested on April 3 for his alleged role in a stabbing on Memorial Day in 2023.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A third suspect has been arrested in connection to a stabbing in Harrisburg this past Memorial Day.

Justin Smith, 31, of Harrisburg, was arrested on April 3. Two other men, Salik Peterson, 40, and Dale Dean Jr., 36, were arrested on June 13, 2023. Police are still searching for the fourth suspect, Drafton Jones, who also allegedly drove away in the victim's car after the incident.

The stabbing occurred on Monday, May 29 around 6 p.m. in the 1100 block of South 13th Street, by an apartment on G Row, according to officers. The victim was moving clothing out of the apartment four men pulled up in a black Toyota Camry and began attacking him, according to an affidavit of probable cause. 

The victim was taken to the hospital with multiple life-threatening stab wounds. He underwent surgery and survived, police said.

When police interviewed the victim at the hospital, he allegedly told officers that the person whose apartment he was moving out of called someone, who was later identified as Jones. Jones and the other three suspects, who were all together at a party, went to the residence and assaulted the victim, according to a criminal complaint.

Smith, who is also known as JuJu, is charged with criminal attempt - criminal homicide, aggravated assault - attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference and conspiracy - criminal homicide. 

He is being held in Dauphin County Prison, unable to post bail. Smith is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 16.
