Bloomsburg Early Bird Sports Expo kicks off

The Early Bird Sports Expo is this weekend in Bloomsburg. Folks are getting excited for the warmer weather ahead.

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. — From camping to hunting, there is a lot to explore this weekend in Columbia County

It's the 35th year for the Early Bird Sports Expo. The four-day event is held at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds.

Outdoor enthusiasts can browse 136 vendors and educational stations.

"We have a little bit of everything outdoor-related: fishing, hunting, camping, electric bikes, chain saw carvings, just a wide spectrum," said Jarrett Swartz, owner of Early Bird Sports Expo.

In addition to all of the outdoor gear and educational demonstrations, the expo will also have paper and 3-D shoot competitions. Members of the Berwick Archery Club showed us how it's done.

Barry Sones with the Bloomsburg Archery Club says some people come out to show off their skills, while others like to watch the competition.

"A lot of people have never seen it in an aspect like this; it is normally outside. When we bring it inside, we end up getting a lot of people gathering and watching," Sones said.

Organizers also included plenty of activities for kids to make the day at the expo an outing for the whole family.

"Come in and try new things. There are always new items coming to market, and this is where a lot of places showcase that. There is also a lot of educational stuff going on," Swartz said.

The Early Bird Sports Expo gets underway on Thursday.
