Olu Fashanu, former Penn State lineman, drafted 11th overall by New York Jets

The former Penn State offensive lineman will now begin his NFL career with the Jets.

DETROIT — Former Penn State offensive lineman Olumuyiwa Fashanu was selected with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.

Fashanu, 21, will now begin his professional football career in New York.

At Penn State's pro day, Fashanu spoke of the moment he'd be drafted.

"It's a moment I’ve dreamt of for a long time, it’s been a very long goal of mine since I started playing football. When that moment comes, I am not really sure what I am going to do. I am just going to make sure I embrace everyone who's been with me this entire time."

It was the realization of a dream for Fashanu, but also his high school teammate, quarterback Caleb Williams, who was selected with the first overall pick by the Chicago Bears.

At the next level, ESPN's Jordan Reid believes Fashanu's natural ability could help him find success.

Reid told us before the draft, "For Olu, I still think very highly of him. We see sometimes people start to wonder with athletic tackles as run blockers, he's just so naturally gifted, and has a lot to work with."

Three-day rookie minicamps begin at the start of May for the NFL's newest players.
