Lancaster Stormers look to dominate Atlantic League yet again

The Lancaster Stormers are going for a three-peat Atlantic League championship after a busy offseason.

LANCASTER, Pa. —

The Lancaster Stormers are rounding the bases towards the 2024 season with one goal in mind: an Atlantic League championship three-peat.

"It's never been done in the Atlantic League to go back-to-back-to-back, but we are building a team, hopefully, that puts us in that position come September," Mike Reynolds, the team's general manager, said.

The Stormers have been busy in the offseason training, rebranding and improving Clipper Magazine Stadium.

The team made the switch to artificial turf, which should mean the field is less affected by weather and opens up opportunities to host events such as graduations, concerts, parties and other sporting events.

"Our managers typically build a team of speed and defense, and so actually turf plays to our favor," Reynolds said.

The Stormers also changed their name and logo. The team's name was shorted from the Barnstormers to the Stormers, and the logo changed from a barn to a bull with a lightning bolt on its forehead. Cylo remains the mascot.

Reynolds says the changes still honor the team's agriculture theme, as the Stormers font is inspired by Pennsylvania Dutch calligraphy and the bull mascot is a symbol of strength and determination.

The Stormers' Opening Night will be Tuesday, April 30. Gates open at 5:45 p.m., and the game begins at 6:45 p.m. Tickets can be bought online.

Reynolds says there will be lots of excitement at the first game of the season, including the championship ring ceremony; ceremonial first pitches from Stormers championship managers Tom Herr, Butch Hobson and Ross Peeples; honoring the Stormers all-20th anniversary team, live music, exciting giveaways, new snacks at the concession stands and more.

Fans who can't wait until Opening Night to get back to the ballpark can attend a Fan Fest on April 20. The event will be a free spring training game with a magnetic schedule giveaway, player autographs, a chance to play catch on the field before the game, free admission to the Kreider Farms Kids Park, deals on tickets in the BCF Group Box Office and Kids Run the Bases after the game.
