1 dead after vehicle crashes into Cocalico Creek in Ephrata Borough

Ephrata Borough Police say the 77-year-old victim may have had a medical episode prior to crashing into the creek.

EPHRATA BOROUGH, Pa. — Update, noon: The Lancaster County Coroner's Office has identified the driver as Marlin Fausnacht, 77, of Ephrata.

The cause and manner of Fausnacht's death remains under investigation and will be released following an autopsy, according to Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni.

A 77-year-old man is dead after the vehicle he was driving crashed into the Cocalico Creek in Ephrata Borough early Tuesday, according to police

It happened around 4:45 a.m. near the 100 block of Old Mill Road. Investigators say the vehicle went across State Street, drove through a stop sign and a yard before crashing into the creek.  

It is believed the victim may have suffered a medical episode prior to crashing, according to Ephrata Borough Police Chief Christopher McKim. 

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
