8 people seeking treatment following Cumberland County school bus crash

Police confirm that eight people were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries ranging from "minor" to "moderate."

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — State Police are investigating a crash involving a school bus in Cumberland County.

It occurred at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Newville Road and Oakville Road in North Newtown Township, according to Trooper Megan Frazer, a State Police spokesperson.

The bus involved was transporting elementary school students in the Big Spring School District.

Frazer said eight people, seven juveniles and one adult, were transported to Holy Spirit Hospital and Chambersburg Hospital -- some for precautionary reasons, and others for treatment of injuries ranging from "minor" to "moderate."

According to Big Spring School District, four students were transported for checks and care. Their families were notified. 

No other details about the crash were immediately available. The incident remains under investigation.
