The York police and fire departments are trying to combat bullying in schools. The departments, along with the Center for Safe Schools, held an educational seminar at Lincoln Fire Hall.
The program included the viewing of the documentary “Bullying,” which followed the stories of two children who faced bullying in the classroom.
The event focused on how community organizations can work with schools to fight bullying.
“There are hopes to change the climate in our schools and in our communities, and to bring hope to parents who feel like they can’t reach out and help their kids through any issues,” says Sally Canazaro, who is a coordinator for the Center for Safe Schools.
In the 2012/2013 school year alone, there were more than 3,700 reported bullying incidents in Pennsylvania schools.
