A job fair was held at Harrisburg Area Community College to give ex-offenders a second chance today. Harrisburg Area Community College teamed up with the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole to hold the second annual Re-Entry job fair.
“ We’re trying to remove that stigma for those offenders who are coming out of the department of corrections and trying to give them a second opportunity with jobs, “ says Michael Potteiger, Chairman of the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole
The unique event was focused on getting ex-offenders back to work by giving them a chance to meet employers face to face. Ex-offenders like Barbara Bowers who says job fairs like these give her hope to return to the work force
“ I think it`s extremely hard because you`re judged because of your past and not everybody, you know, we are good people we just feel into hard times, “ says Bowers
Multiple employers attended the job fair including Hollywood Casino, Avis, and Target.
