Here's a look at the top health headlines from the week.

YORK, Pa. —

Health group calls for ban of decaf coffee

Some advocacy groups say decaffeinated coffee may not be a healthy alternative to caffeine.

That's because a common way to remove caffeine from coffee is boiling the beans and then soaking them in chemicals--the same chemicals which are often used in nail polish remover.

The FDA currently allows a small amount of the chemicals to remain on beans that are sold to consumers, but some experts say direct exposure to the chemical can cause drowsiness, numbness and nausea.

Poll: Most Americans aren't getting enough sleep

According to a new Gallup poll, only about one in four Americans say they get at least eight hours of sleep a night.

Almost 60% say they could use more sleep. In 2013, that number was 43%.

The reason for the drop is unclear, but experts think it could be caused by the fast-paced modern life and added responsibilities. There's also been a post-COVID-19 phenomenon where people put off sleep by indulging in relaxation time like binge-watching TV or mindlessly scrolling social media.

CDC investigates illnesses from fake Botox

Fake Botox could be behind multiple reports of severe health problems.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the FDA report at least 19 claims of vision problems, difficulty breathing and swallowing all attached to individuals who had received fake Botox. The cases are spread out across at least nine states, with nine people being hospitalized.

Both agencies believe the counterfeit Botox was obtained from unlicensed sources, so they recommend only seeing licensed professionals if a consumer is considering Botox.
