Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health this week announced dates and locations for its blood drives in the month of March.
The healthcare organization sponsors community blood drives every week across Lancaster County and at the Blood Donor Center at the Suburban Pavilion, located at 2100 Harrisburg Pike.
The blood donations collected at the blood drives stays in Lancaster County to benefit members of the local community, LGH said.
"The United States is currently experiencing a shortage of blood supplies. Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health encourages all eligible donors to make a donation at either our blood donor center or one of our community blood drives," the healthcare organization said in a press release. "Blood donation is safe, including for those who have received a Covid-19 vaccination."
Blood donors must be in good health (free of flu, cold and nausea symptoms for at least three days), 16 years of age (with parental consent) to 79 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, be well hydrated, eat a substantial meal within four hours before donating, and bring a form of ID.
Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are also accepted.

All individuals presenting to donate will receive a $10 Sheetz gift card OR one movie ticket to Regal or Penn Cinemas.

In addition, LG Health offers appointments at the Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Blood Donor Center, located at the Suburban Pavilion, 2104 Harrisburg Pike, Suite 202, 2nd Floor.
Community members may schedule appointments to donate at the Blood Donor Center by calling 717-544-0170 and choosing option 1, or by visiting LGHealth.org/GiveBlood.
