YORK, Pa. — Editor's note: The above video is from Jan. 6, 2023.

A York man accused of participating in the Capitol riots on Jan. 6, 2021, has accepted a plea deal for his role in the insurrection.

Cameron Campanella II reached a deal with federal prosecutors that could carry a prison sentence of up to a year, up to 10 years of probation and fines up to $10,000, court documents show. He pleaded guilty to disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building and grounds and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol Building.

Campanella was charged after investigators found that a phone associated with his Google account was in or around the Capitol at the time of the insurrection, based on location data and information received from a search warrant served to Google.

Prosecutors also found that Campanella had sent several texts alluding to his plans to participate in the riots and indicating that he was briefly inside the Capitol Building around 3 p.m. on Jan. 6. Comparing pictures of Campanella to YouTube videos, social media posts and surveillance video from the riot also helped investigators establish that the York man participated.

Investigators spoke to Campanella at his home on July 7, 2022. Court documents allege that Campanella refused to speak about the events on Jan. 6, 2021, and he stated he was "not scared" and suggested that investigating the insurrection was a waste of time.

A judge signed a criminal complaint and arrest warrant for Campanella on June 2, 2023.
