Solanco High School closed after shots fired toward employee's home

Last night, shots were fired toward the home of someone who works at Solanco High School, according to a post from the school.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Solanco High School is closed today, Tuesday, April 16, after a shooting incident last night.

According to a post on the district's website, shots were fired toward the home of someone who works at Solanco High School last night.

The home was located on the 200 block of Meadow Lane, according to Quarryville Police.

The district says it is monitoring the situation and has no reason to believe the shooting was school-related, but it intends to wait until receiving further information.

No injuries were reported, though the home was struck several times, police said.

"We are closing Solanco High School today out of an abundance of caution," the statement reads in part. "Since this happened in the evening hours, we wish to provide time for the police to progress in their investigation."

The school says it will provide further information when it becomes available.

All other Solanco schools are open today, the district reiterated in its post. Only the high school is closed.
