LANCASTER, Pa. — A Lancaster County man will serve up to 19 years in prison for sexually abusing a child.

Stephen Vaughn Jr., 36, of West Hempfield Township, was sentenced last week by Lancaster County Judge Dennis Reinaker to a prison term of 9½ to 19 years after pleading guilty to charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 13, and endangering the welfare of children, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office.

West Hempfield Township Police charged Vaughn after an investigation launched in March 2022, after the abuse was first reported.

The victim, who was six-years-old at the time, disclosed the abuse happened twice in a forensic interview with the Lancaster County Children’s Alliance and charges were filed in February 2023.

Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick prosecuted the case. West Hempfield Township Police Detective Sergeant Robert Bradfield filed charges.
