Beloved Lebanon County officer treated to unexpected retirement surprise by Cornwall Elementary School students

Cornwall Borough Patrolman Stanley "Rick" Finicle was so popular with Cornwall Elementary's students that he was treated to some farewell posters and stickers.

LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. — After more than four decades on the job in Lebanon County, a beloved officer is hanging up his badge and holster.

Cornwall Borough Patrolman Stanley "Rick" Finicle worked both part-time and full-time as a police officer since 1975. He was very popular with the Cornwall Elementary School students, who surprised him Wednesday with a special retirement send-off.

"Today's my last day and, as usual, I always go over to Cornwall Elementary School and hand out stickers to the kids in the morning. As a surprise, after I left I was called back over and all the students in the school made posters for me and covered me with stickers," Finicle fondly recalled.

Even while working security full-time at Three Mile Island, Rick worked as a part-time patrolman for local departments in both Dauphin and Lebanon Counties. He also provided tours of the police station, patrolled the Lebanon Valley Rails to Trails and served as the firearms and taser instructor for the department.

He is known also known for his role as Santa Claus, attending various holiday events in the Cornwall and Palmyra Boroughs.
