TRACKING SHOWERS FOR FRIDAY
A cold front sliding east will bring showers and possible thunderstorms for Friday. The best chance for wet weather is early in the day. Morning lows will only drop to the upper 50s to lower 60s, a mild start, and then, temperatures climb to the lower to middle 70s. You may have to dodge a few showers late in the morning drive. The best chance for thunderstorms is in our eastern counties where the Storm Prediction Center has placed the area under a marginal risk for severe weather. The main threat is for damaging winds.
The front pushes east by late afternoon ending rain threat. Some areas could pick up about a .10”, where areas under a thunderstorm could see a quick .50”.
Saturday, expect more seasonable temperatures in the middle to upper 50s. Clouds will filter the sunshine at times. The next shortwave comes in overnight. Expect chillier air to spill in for the second half of the weekend.
APRIL CHILL IS READY TO MOVE IN
We begin the month of April with 70s but changes head our way over the weekend. Here is a look at the April Trends for averages. We are above average Friday, near average Saturday but by Sunday we are dropping well below average and stay there for several days.
Highs only warm to the middle 40s Sunday. With the next system quickly moving in Monday evening, temperatures ahead will climb to near 50, still falling short of average. It will bring a few showers to the area, along with a few wet flakes for our northwest counties late overnight. The low and associated front moves east of the region by Tuesday. Temperatures will be slow to warm and will only climb to the lower 40s. A return flow sets up Wednesday. While morning lows will be cold in the 20s, highs rebound to the lower 50s. Next rain threat arrives Thursday.
