Sneak peek | Here's everything Eagles fans need to know about the upcoming NFL schedule release

The rumored release date for the schedule is May 15. But we already know a little about what to expect. Here's a sneak peek for Eagles fans.

YORK, Pa. — Now that the NFL Draft is over, there's only one major milestone left to look forward to in the NFL offseason: the release of the 2024-25 schedule.

The league has not officially said when the schedule release is going to happen, but a recent post by Sports Business Journal said the NFL has told its teams that the release date is May 15.

We already know quite a bit about the upcoming season, based on previous leaks.

For example, we know defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will be playing in the season opener on Thursday, Sept. 5 -- although we still don't know who they'll be facing.

We also know the Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Green Bay Packers in the first-ever NFL game in South America. The Birds will be the home team in a rare Friday night football game that will stream exclusively on Peacock from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The NFL will also have four other international games on the 2024 slate, three in London and one in Germany. The Bears, Vikings, and Jaguars will each have one "home" game in jolly old England, while the Panthers will be the home team for the NFL's second-ever regular season game in Munich.

The Christmas holiday will feature Wednesday NFL games for just the third time in 75 years, because December 25 falls in the middle of the week this year. The NFL already announced plans to have a Christmas double-header, so at least four teams will be playing on short rest.

Fans will have to wait until May 15 to find out more specifics.

For fans of the three most-popular NFL teams in Central Pennsylvania -- the Eagles, Steelers, and Ravens -- here are some bonus nuggets: the league already announced home and away opponents for every team.

So here's who the Eagles will be playing in 2024:

HOME: Giants, Cowboys, Commanders, Panthers, Falcons, Packers, Steelers, Browns, Jaguars.

AWAY: Giants, Cowboys, Commanders, Rams, Saints, Buccaneers, Bengals, Ravens

As an added bonus for other Central PA football fans...

Here are the Steelers' home and away opponents:
