Eagles trade DE Haason Reddick to the Jets

The Birds send their top pass rusher to New York in exchange for a conditional 3rd-round pick that could become a 2nd, reports say.

PHILADELPHIA — The long-rumored trade has finally happened.

The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly traded edge rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets in exchange for a conditional 2026 third-round draft pick that could turn into a 2nd, according to multiple NFL sources.

Reddick will get a new contract with the Jets, reports added.

The third-round pick will turn into a second if Reddick has 67.5% playtime with the Jets and records more than 10 sacks this season, according to NFL reporter Adam Schefter. If he doesn't, the pick will remain a third-rounder.

Over the past five seasons, Reddick is tied for the fifth most sacks in the NFL, Schefter reported.

Ironically, it was the Eagles' free-agent signing of Jets defensive end Bryce Huff that may have accelerated Reddick's move out of town.

Reddick, who will turn 30 in September, had 27 sacks in two seasons with the Eagles. He was drastically over-performing the three-year contract he signed when he came to Philly as a free agent in 2022. The Eagles gave his representatives permission to seek a trade in the offseason when it became clear they would not be able to agree on an extension.

Reddick denied reports that he was looking for a new home, but it became clear he and the team were far apart when it came to salary negotiations.

A Temple grad, Reddick was a popular player during his time in Philadelphia. With his departure, the Eagles will depend on Huff, Brandon Graham, Josh Sweat, and Tarron Jackson to provide pressure from the edges.
