Fletcher Cox announces retirement after 12 seasons with Philadelphia Eagles

"I gave everything I had to this team and to this city," Cox said in the statement, announcing his retirement.

PHILADELPHIA — Another All-Time Philadelphia Eagles is riding into the sunset this offseason.

Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox announced his retirement from the NFL after 12 seasons on Sunday, posting a message on his social media pages.

"I gave everything I had to this team and to this city," Cox said in the statement. "I don't know what's next for me, but I do know that I'm forever grateful for my time here in Philadelphia and with the Eagles organization. Go Birds!"

Cox, 33, is retiring with six Pro Bowl appearances to his name, and compiling 70 sacks over his career.

The No. 12 overall pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, Cox played his entire career with the Eagles and was named to the NFL's 2010s All-Decade team.

He ends his career with 519 tackles, 173 quarterback hits, 16 forced fumbles and 14 fumble recoveries, including three that ended in touchdowns.

Of course, Cox was a member of the Eagles team that won Super Bowl LII.

Now, after his retirement, only four members of that team remain on the Eagles' roster.
