Cheerabilities Team Inspiration earns bid for national cheer competition in Orlando

The Mechanicsburg-based team full of athletes with disabilities will compete nationally in Florida in May.

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Every time Team Inspiration hits the floor, their goal is to inspire.

The local squad based out of Mechanicsburg has worked all year long and their hard work has paid off with a trip to Orlando, Florida to compete in the national D2 summit.

"I love the fact that they come here, they are included and they participate," said the director of Cheerabilities Bobbi Segin, "They are able to do what every other kid gets to do and they shine."

The abilities of the team are special. The squad represents Cheer Tymes Cheer Abilities team which is made up of athletes with disabilities, but the team has come together nicely and is ready to put on a show.

"It’s amazing to watch these 24 special needs athletes come together," said parent Ed Corcoran. "I never thought my child could do this. I never thought they could work in a team and it’s awesome."

The team will represent south-central Pennsylvania down in Florida, and cheer in the Cheerabilities division. The team earned the bid following their performance in Baltimore and will compete in the D2 summit May 10th -12th.

The team has a GoFundMe page to help raise money to send the team down to the Sunshine State.
