Championship week for high school basketball teams with 12 district title games

The GIANT Center is the host of four consecutive games for three straight days.

HERSHEY, Pa. — It all starts with the very first tip-off on Wednesday at 2:45 pm and continues until the 12th and final district championship game begins Friday at 8 p.m.

High school basketball fans can enjoy four high school basketball finals on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in Hershey.

For many of the local athletes, it's a dream they've had their entire basketball career, to celebrate a district championship on the floor at GIANT Center.

"It's about the kids and seeing the smiles on their faces every day," explained Branden Lippy who is on the PIAA District III Executive Committee. "This is quite an experience for them."

It's also quite an experience for the fans, coaches and cheerleaders. There's something special about walking out of the arena with a district gold medal hanging around your neck.

Lancaster Mennonite's boys have won four straight 2A finals and yet, it's still a thrill to win the crown.

"Thank you to my teammates, to my coaches, we have a first-year coach, it's a hard thing having a new coach," said Blazers Senior Jaydn Taylor. "It feels great, means a lot to me."
