Cargo ship struck Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. Here's what we know about the ship

At the time of the collision, the ship was headed outbound from Baltimore to Colombo, Sri Lanka.

BALTIMORE — A container ship rammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore early Tuesday, resulting in its collapse and rescue efforts. The Singapore-flagged ship "DALI" collided with one of the pillars of the bridge around 1:30 a.m. while two pilots were onboard, according to owners and managers of the vessel.

There are 22 people aboard the ship, including two pilots. They have all been accounted for and there have been no reports of injuries, according to a Synergy Group press release. In addition, they say there has been no pollution caused by the collision.

On the cargo ship there are 4,679 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU.) At the time of the collision, the ship was headed outbound from Baltimore to Colombo, Sri Lanka.

At this time, the cause of the collision has not been determined.

A.P. Moller - Maersk, a shipping company that time charters the DALI, released the following statement about the collapse:

"We are horrified by what has happened in Baltimore, and our thoughts are with all of those affected. We can confirm that the container vessel 'DALI”' operated by charter vessel company Synergy Group, is time chartered by Maersk and is carrying Maersk customers’ cargo. No Maersk crew and personnel were onboard the vessel. We are closely following the investigations conducted by authorities and Synergy, and we will do our utmost to keep our customers informed."

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) says they are in contact with the U.S. Coast Guard and the ship management company to provide needed assistance. They stated that they will provide full cooperation to the U.S. Coast Guard in the investigation, and they will also conduct their own investigation into what happened.
