Representative Dawn Keefer will run for Pennsylvania Senate

State Representative Dawn Keefer announced her plans to run for State Senate in the 31st District, which serves residents in Cumberland and York counties.

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — State Representative Dawn Keefer (R-92) announced today she will run for Pennsylvania Senate in the 31st District, which serves residents in Cumberland and York counties.

Keefer hopes to secure the Republican nomination during the next primary election on April 23. Senator Mike Regan, who currently holds the seat, is not seeking reelection.

“As State Representative, I have led the fight for commonsense policies that remove government as a barrier to economic growth in our Commonwealth,” said Keefer. “Pennsylvania is ripe with opportunity, but the state’s economic policies too often undermine those opportunities, driving away businesses and the talent they attract. That’s why I have championed policies to remove nuisance tax rules, lower the corporate net income tax, and stop licensing expansion. We want our children to choose Pennsylvania as their destination to work and live, and if we don't secure businesses offering highly sought-after jobs, we’ll continue to decline in population as our youth flee to more competitive states. I am running for the State Senate because there is much more to be done, and I want to use my experience to ensure Pennsylvania becomes the best place to live, work and raise a family.”

Keefer says her record of accomplishments includes protecting taxpayers, supporting strong government reforms to reduce the power of politicians, rolling back regulation and license expansions and defending Constitutional rights.

She claims strong commitment to providing children with a quality education and parents with control over what is taught in schools.

“I grew up in a strong, working-class family where I was taught the importance of faith, family, and the value of hard work,” said Keefer. “As State Representative, I have pushed for an education system that allows parents to choose a path that meets the needs of their child and includes academic opportunities for all career paths, including our valuable trades and skills fields. If we’ve learned anything, it’s that education is not one-size-fits-all, and it’s imperative that students’ academic success is not predicated on their zip code. As State Senator, I will continue to advocate for our children and their parents.”

Throughout her career, Keefer has supported veterans, police and first responders.

“It is such an honor to serve the hard-working men and women of York and Cumberland counties,” said Keefer. “I work hard every day for our commonsense, conservative values, and to ensure our communities remain a great place to call home. I was honored to receive one of the highest scores awarded by the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) in their Award for Conservative Excellence. The award highlights my 100% voting record supporting common sense conservative policies that help working families and protect taxpayers. You can count on me to continue this work as your State Senator.”

Keefer, her husband Tom, and their three children reside in Dillsburg and are members of St. Joseph Parish in Mechanicsburg. Keefer is pro-life, a supporter of the Second Amendment and has worked to reduce the size and cost of state government.

“As a state legislator, my constituents can trust that I will continue to work hard for the issues that matter most because your priorities are my priorities,” said Keefer. "While I will focus my efforts in Harrisburg on pressing issues like right-sizing government, supporting our workers and jobs and defending our rights and freedoms, know that the core of my legislative actions are focused on improving the lives of individuals and families here at home.”
