A small road in Conewago Township, York County has restricted large trucks for two years.
But the trucks keep on coming.
Residents who live on Locust Point Road say dozens of large trucks come through every day, making the road dangerous to drive and live on.
"We usually have about 50 on average, every single day," claims Kevin Zygmunt, a resident of the street.
PennDOT and Conewago Township put up numerous signs in 2022 informing truck drivers to avoid the road if their trailers are over 30 feet in length. Zygmunt says as a result of the frequent presence of the trailers, buildings often get hit, and trucks can either cross lanes or find themselves in a yard, which is exactly what happened to his front yard in January.
"It took them six hours to get that truck out of there," Zygmunt said. "The road is not designed for trucks pulling 80,000 pounds gross weight, the corners are not designed for it, the bridges aren't designed for it."
The narrow and winding road is close to industrial zones and other routes for trucks to get to their destinations. Despite this, six large trucks were counted driving down the road in the span of an hour on Monday and Zygmunt is worried about the potential consequences.
"Someone's gonna get hurt, possibly even killed," Zygmunt said.
PennDOT tells FOX43 it is not responsible for the enforcement of the signs. Officials from Conewago Township could not be reached for comment.
