New details in Lycoming County shooting

The shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning in Jordan Township.

LYCOMING COUNTY, Pa. — Update:

State police released new details after they responded to reports of a shooting victim around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning near Unityville.

Troopers say 54-year-old Brian Taylor shot and killed his wife, 60-year-old Linda Taylor, before turning the gun on his sister, Andrea Meek.

Taylor also shot and killed his friend, 55-year-old Jerry Zehring.

Investigators say during the rampage, Taylor also shot at numerous homes and passing cars along Route 239.

Once police arrived, they then shot and killed the gunman.

All troopers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues in Lycoming County.

The coroner says the shooting in Lycoming County left four people dead, including the shooter.

It happened Saturday morning in Jordan Township. Pennsylvania State Police say a man was shooting at vehicles with a rifle.

Police fired shots, and the scene was secured. Officials say no PSP members were hurt.

The Pennsylvania State Troopers Association released a statement after the shooting saying, in part, "The training and quick thinking of our troopers protected more senseless loss of life in Jordan Township and the surrounding area..."

They added that those who "responded to the call about a mass murderer today are heroes who were prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice."
