Pedestrian struck, killed in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. — A Mercersburg man has died after being struck by a vehicle in Franklin County on Thursday night.

State Police say around 9:10 p.m. on May 23, 77-year-old John Stottlemeyer was walking facing oncoming traffic on Lemar Road in Peters Township.

A vehicle driving in the northbound lane of the road struck Stottlemeyer, who suffered a fatal injury.

His body was found about 60 feet from the striking vehicle's final resting place, police said.

Two witnesses were present at the scene of the crash, officers noted.
