YORK, Pa. — Police in York County are investigating the death of a man found inside a burning vehicle.
The body of Thomas Rooney, 55, was found inside a 1994 GMC Safari minivan that was fully engulfed in flames Thursday at 11:50 p.m. on the 2400 block of Pin Oak Drive, according to Northern York County Regional Police.
Rooney was found after members of the York Area United Fire and Rescue team responded to the scene to extinguish the fire, police said.
Witnesses told police Rooney had been seen going in and out of the minivan since about 10 p.m. and was heard constantly revving the engine.
The Northern York County Regional Police Fire Investigator is assisting the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal in the investigation, which is still ongoing.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
