HARRISBURG, Pa. — The John Harris High School campus and John Marshall Math Science Academy were placed on lockdown Friday afternoon while police investigated a shots-fired incident nearby, a city spokesperson and school district officials said.

The incident occurred around noon in front of the Bellevue Towers on the 2400 block of Market Street, spokesperson Matt Maisel said Friday.

The scene was cleared by the time police arrived, but a vehicle crashed at the intersection of Market Street and Briarcliff Road, Maisel said. The crashed vehicle had a bullet hole in it, according to Maisel.

Police determined the shots fired and the car crash were connected, Maisel said. No one was injured in the crash, and no injuries were reported in the shooting.

No arrests have been made, but the incident is still under investigation, according to Maisel.

A Harrisburg School District spokesperson said the campus went into lockdown at about 12:15 p.m. as a precaution while the police investigation was conducted.
