Victim texts 'help' to Cumberland County police, suspect arrested

Braden King, 60, allegedly struck the victim in the head and began pulling her clothes off before police arrived.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — A "help" text message to police ended with a suspect behind bars in Cumberland County.

According to the New Cumberland Borough Police Department, on May 15, officers were dispatched after a victim sent "help" via a text message. 

Although the victim's location was unknown, officers urgently worked to locate her. Ultimately, she was located and told police that she was struck in the face and assaulted by Braden King, 60. 

After striking the victim and causing her to bleed, King allegedly began to pull the victim's clothes off without her consent. 

According to police, around this time, officers arrived at the scene and were able to halt King. 

He was arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Booking Center. King has been charged with simple assault, indecent assault and harassment.
