Carlisle police investigating attempted vehicle theft

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — Cumberland County police are investigating an attempted vehicle theft in Carlisle.

According to the Carlisle Police Department, on March 5 at 10 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of East North Street for a report of an attempted vehicle break-in. 

At the scene, police discovered that a man, approximately 6'0", wearing jeans and a light blue or gray hoodie with dark blue sleeves had attempted to enter a locked car using a screwdriver. The man was caught trying to enter by the homeowner. 

The suspect fled on foot to Porter Avenue before going east on East Louther Street, making a right onto North Spring Garden Street and traveling through the Weis parking lot, up East High Street. He was last seen walking onto the 100 block of Liberty Avenue. 

The case is currently being investigated. 

Anyone with home surveillance who may have caught the suspect fleeing the scene between 9:40 a.m. and 10 a.m. is encouraged to submit a tip through CRIMEWATCH or by contacting the Carlisle Police at 717-243-5252.
