LANCASTER, Pa. -- A man is dead and a Lancaster City Police officer wounded following a shooting Tuesday afternoon.

According to police reports, the officer was serving a warrant at 305 East Chestnut Street around 12:30 p.m.

A man who was being served, opened fire and hit a police officer in the shoulder, investigators said. Police returned fire, killing the man.

The officer was taken to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment and is listed in stable condition.

No word yet on the identity of the man killed or the officer who was shot.

Currently East Chestnut at North Lime Street is shut down.
