The contractor working for PennDOT to make repairs to the bridge that carries Interstate 83 over Route 30 at Exit 21 in York County this morning reopened the ramp from southbound I-83 to eastbound Route 30. The ramp had been closed since early July as part of the construction project. The southbound lanes on I-83 have been returned to their normal configuration; the lanes on northbound I-83 over the bridge will be shifted to their normal configuration during the overnight hours tonight.

PennDOT contracted with G.A. & F.C. Wagman, Inc. of York, Pennsylvania, for $2,272,448 to conduct deck patching, expansion joint replacement, backwall replacement and bearing replacement. Repairs to the 54-year-old I-83 bridge over U.S. Route 30 are necessary in order to maintain the serviceability of this structure until funds are available for more extensive work. The repairs are not finished yet — there is still work remaining to be completed by the contractor, some of which may need to be done in the spring when temperatures improve.
