HARRISBURG, PA- Nine freight trains derailed near Paxton Street in Harrisburg Tuesday afternoon.
Dave Pidgeon, spokeman with Norfolk Southern, said around 11:50 a.m. 9 freight trains derailed along the Lurgan Branch region of the track. No hazardous material were on the trains when they derailed.
Pidgeon said they do have a special crew coming in to assist with getting the trains back on track. At this time no injuries are reported and he does not know how long it will take to get the trains back up on the track.
Pidgeon said it may have an effect on Amtrak services.
No word on what caused the trains to derail.
