LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. – The new westbound alignment for Route 30 in the Gap area of eastern Lancaster County will open to traffic during the overnight hours between Thursday and Friday. The new traffic pattern for westbound traffic on Route 30 should be in effect no later than 6 a.m.  on Friday, August 5,

The new westbound alignment for Route 30 is part of a nearly $10 million construction project that started last year to improve traffic flow and safety between Route 30 and Route 41 in Gap, Salisbury Township.

Allan A. Myers, LP of Worcester, is the contractor hired by PennDOT to build the highway improvement which has involved construction of a new, two-lane roadway parallel and located to the north of existing Route 30, between Route 41 and Route 772.

The result will now put westbound Route 30 traffic on the new roadway; existing Route 30 in this area will carry eastbound Route 30 traffic. New traffic signals on Route 30 at Route 41 and at Route 772 will help control traffic.

Construction work will continue over the next three months on widening eastbound Route 30 and widening Route 41 in the vicinity of the intersection. New traffic islands will also be built at the intersection between Route 30 and Route 41, Construction crews will mill and overlay the entire project before wrapping up in October.
