UPDATE: UGI crews repaired the leak and people were given the all clear to return to their homes at around 5:45 Tuesday evening. No word on whether the driver of the car that raptured the gas line will be charged.
Police and fire respond to a major natural gas leak in Lancaster. It happened at around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. A vehicle hit a stonewall in the 100 block of College Avenue rapturing a natural gas line. Several nearby homes and business have been evacuated as a precaution. UGI crews are also on the scene.
Residents forced out of their homes are being sheltered at the Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
