HALIFAX, DAUPHIN COUNTY–A Millerstown man is behind bars after Pennsylvania State Police say he robbed a Dollar General Store in Dauphin County at knife-point last month.

John K. Lucas, 45, is charged with robbery, simple assault, theft by unlawful taking, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.

According to police, Lucas walked into a Dollar General Store in Halifax on Oct. 28 and tried to buy cigarettes. When the clerk asked to see his ID, Lucas explained he left his ID in his vehicle and then ran out to retrieve it. A few moments later Lucas reentered the store, armed with a knife, and demanded money from the register, investigators said.

When the cashier refused, Lucas reached into the register and grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash before taking off.

Two witnesses saw Lucas run from the store and get into a white sedan. They provided police with the vehicles registration and a warrant was issued for Lucas’ arrest.

One day later, Delaware State Police found Lucas and his vehicle near Wilmington, Delaware.  He was arrested and extradited back to Pennsylvania. Lucas was arraigned on Nov. 3 and taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 15.
