HARRISBURG, Pa. – A Dauphin County jury has found Roberto Dones-Cruz guilty of robbery.  Immediately after the jury’s verdict, President Judge Richard A. Lewis sentenced Dones-Cruz to 1 ½-5 years in state prison.

During the trial that began on Monday, the victim testified that Dones-Cruz took $60 from her hand while she was walking on the 1200 block of Swatara Street on July 16, 2015, in Harrisburg.

Deputy District Attorney Sarah M. Phillips explained that any type of force, however slight, used during the course of a theft constitutes a robbery charge.  During the trial the defense attacked the creditability of the victim.   Deputy DA Phillips argued the victim was believable and asked the jury to return a guilty verdict based on her testimony.
