Employers from around Central Pennsylvania look to hire hometown heroes in Lebanon County.  Hundreds of military veterans, military members and their families came out to find jobs at Thursday’s “Hiring Our Heroes” job fair at Fort Indiantown Gap.  Employers say it’s difficult hiring veterans because their skill sets are unique to the military.  But organizers say the fair helps make a connection.

Captain Gregory Kuleba is the PA National Guard employment outreach coordinator.  He says, “We need to find them work because they have the skills in the civilian workforce they learned or practiced in the military through their training or during deployment and a lot is able to be applied in civilian workforce.”

Thursday’s job fair featured nearly 80 employers.

Since 2011, the “Hiring our Heroes” fair has connected more than 1500 companies to 23,000 veterans and military spouses.  It’s a result of more than 700 hiring events.
