UPDATED Information:

Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg are investigating the fire as an attempted homicide and arson.

Investigators say 36-year-old Christopher Rhone set fire to the home while 85-year-old June Rhone was sleeping.

Both were able to escape the fire unharmed, according to police.

State police say Christopher Rhone is facing charges for attempted homicide and arson.


GUILFORD TWP, Pa- Fire crews in Franklin County battled an early morning house fire in Guilford Township.

When crews arrived on the 6500 block of Mountain Drive, there were heavy flames on the first floor. It took firefighters about 15 minutes to get the fire under control.

The home is considered  a total loss and the state police fire marshal is continuing to investigate the cause.

The Red Cross was called to assist fire victims.

State police are also investigating a stabbing at the scene of the fire that sent a man to York Hospital.
