SPRINGETTSBURY TWP., Pa. -- Donald Trump signs at a local business in York County are stirring up controversy for customers.

Trump flags are flashing "Make America Great Again" to the public at two Maple Donuts.

Mikk Sachar, who lives in Springettsbury Township, said, "I have a feeling this is going to have a little bit of a backlash on Maple Donuts."

The Maple Donuts on East Market Street in Springettsbury Township and along I-83 in Newberry Township are both showing their support for the GOP frontrunner.

Some customers are shocked when they see the presidential candidate's sign in front of the local businesses.

Sachar said, "I was very taken aback. I was just bringing my son to Maple Donuts to you know coming by from golf and all of a sudden I see a Trump sign on the American flag which obviously Maple Donuts is making their views known."

But others are not concerned at all and said the business is simply expressing its right to freedom of speech.

Bob Tomes, who lives in York, said, "When I go to Maple Donuts I go for the coffee and the doughnut. I may not agree with the political aspect of it, but everyone is entitled to their own political viewpoint."

People are posting their opinions on Maple Donuts' Facebook page.

One woman wrote: "I can't support a business that cannot see the harm that such a divisive candidate will engender for huge swaths of our country."

Another person wrote: "Basic rule of a very successful businessman - never ever express your religious, political views at your place of business."

But some are not phased by the political statement and said they will come back to the doughnut shop.

"It's not going to stop me. No," Tomes said.

Sachar said, "It won't affect me necessarily but I know it's going to affect a lot of people I think. I think there's going to be a lot of people that are going to be extremely annoyed."

Charles Burnside, the owner of Maple Donuts, said he put the Donald Trump signs up because he is supporting the presumptive Republican nominee.

He said he is receiving a lot of support from the signs and is ordering more Donald Trump flags for Maple Donuts.
