RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — The family of a young boy is pleading for the public’s help to return the child’s prosthetic leg.

Liam Brenes and his family went to the beach over the weekend, and someone took the 4-year-old’s leg while he and his family were playing in the water.

Liam’s family is upset over the incident, with older brother Conner saying, “I’m angry, kind of mixed emotions. I’m angry and sad: angry at the people who did this and sad for Liam.”

This was Liam’s first ever trip to the beach, and he wore an old prosthetic leg that is too short, so as not to damage his new leg in the water.  His prosthetic was left sitting on top of a cooler, along with his clothes and a bag.

When the family returned to their spot on the beach, everything was gone.

Park Rangers have searched the area, with no luck.  Amanda McFarland, Liam’s mother, has been reaching out to the public on her Facebook page.

His family says they just want the boy’s leg back, and if possible his stolen glasses as well.
