YORK, Pa. —

Study finds solo exercise warps perception of time

Do you ever feel that your workout goes by super slowly?

A study published in the journal "Brain and Behavior" proves just that. Researchers took 33 participants who worked out at a moderate to high level and engaged them in a series of cycling trials. Their perception of time was measured throughout the test, and researchers found that regardless of whether it was near the start or end of the exercise, their sense of time moved slower while they were working out.

The findings do not apply to working out in a competitive environment, only when you're by yourself.

Nationwide health warning over potential E. coli risk in ground beef

A new government warning is out about ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli.

The Department of Agriculture's food safety and inspection service issued a public health alert for ground beef products from Greater Omaha Packing Company because of possible contamination. A recall was not requested at this time because the products are no longer available for sale. The affected ground beef was produced on March 28 and has a use/freeze by date of April 22.

There have been no confirmed reports of any illness.

More young people taking up running

More young people are taking to physical activities to improve their health, and many of them are turning to running.

Some experts say the rise could be related to a quarter-life crisis more than it is to health.

In 2023, nearly one-fifth of runners who finished the New York City Marathon were in their 20s compared to 15% back in 2019. When asked, more of them said they were seeking purpose and identities outside of the social norms like the house, spouse and little ones--and not to just get healthy.
