HARFORD COUNTY, Maryland — One person was killed and 23 others were injured Sunday after a bus crashed on Interstate 95 in Belcamp, Maryland, according to police.
Maryland State Police said the bus lost control and crashed into a guardrail while driving north on I-95, just after 6 a.m. No other cars were involved. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The person killed was pronounced dead at the scene, and those injured were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center for further treatment.
No charges have been filed related to the crash.
The highway was closed starting art mile marker 77 for several hours Sunday to allow police to investigate, but all lanes have since reopened.
The identity of the person killed has not been released, nor have any further details about the conditions of anyone injured.
Troopers from the Bel Air Barrack responded to the crash along with officers from the Maryland Transportation Authority Police and deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the ongoing investigation.
