Harrisburg councilwoman accused of stealing nearly $400 from Weis

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A Harrisburg councilwoman is facing a retail theft charge after allegedly underringing groceries, losing a Camp Hill Weis Markets over $350.

Ausha Nikole Green, 33, has been charged with retail theft- taking merchandise, according to online court documents. Green is the council vice president of Harrisburg's city council. 

According to the affidavit of probable cause, between Aug. 6 and Oct. 21, 2023, Green and another woman were captured on security cameras underringing items in their cart. The women allegedly would either leave some items in the cart, not scanning them at all while other times they would scan one item but have multiple in their hands. 

Over the course of eight trips, both women were allegedly observed under ringing items, mostly various grocery stores and consumer goods. 

The total amount lost from the Weis was $387.22. 

According to the affidavit, Green admitted to shopping at Weis during the time frame and alleged that she may have under rang items while at the store. 

Green appeared at a preliminary hearing and was released on her own recognizance.
