Franklin County man charged with dog's death

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A Franklin County man was taken into custody after reportedly killing a dog.

State Police and the Humane Society Police arrived at a Chambersburg apartment after reports of a dog yelping and a man yelling, according to a police press release.

According to police, further investigation showed that Amire Minnich, 20, struck a "Bernedoodle type" dog, causing significant injury and resulting in the dog's death.

Minnich admitted to police that he became angry with the dog defecating in the apartment, before hitting it.

Police charged Minnich with aggravated cruelty to animals - causing several bodily injury or death, cruelty to animals and neglect of animals - vet care.

Court documents show that Minnich was taken into custody at Franklin County Jail, but posted his $50,000 bond.
