LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — This week's Furry Friend is Charlie, the dog!

He is a neutered Yorkie mix who is 10 years young. Pet Pantry of Lancaster County says not to let his age fool you; Charlie is very healthy and has plenty of energy to spare. He enjoys daily zoomies in the backyard and can often be found rolling around and playing with toys.

He is looking for a new home after his previous owner had to give him up due to her health.

Charlie currently lives in a foster home with two other dogs, who Pet Pantry officials say he gets along with very well. He has also previously shared a home with a cat.

People at the Pet Pantry say he seems to enjoy the company and companionship of humans and other animals, and they would like to see him go to a home with friends to enjoy his senior years with. As Charlie has never lived with young children, the shelter suggests only families with older, dog-considerate children adopt him.

Charlie enjoys cuddles and sleeping with his people at night. He has a love for naps on laps and the back of the couch. The Pet Pantry of Lancaster County says he has never been crated for long periods of time, so he can get anxious when he is confined.

This pup is housetrained and will signal to go out, but he thrives with routine in his day. Despite his age, Charlie has the stamina for long walks and is pretty fast. He also does well in the car.

Charlie is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his shots. He recently had his teeth cleaned.

Anyone interested in adopting Charlie can grab an adoption application by stopping by the Pantry, located at 26 Millersville Road in Lancaster, or fill out an online application.
